Position: Project Assistants (SBCC) - Community Mobilization (3 positions)

Reports to:  SBCC Officer

Commitment: Full time

Location/ Duty stations:  District Clusters in Busoga sub-region


Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a non-governmental organization that provides Development Communication services aimed at influencing positive behaviors for the social development of men, women and children. CDFU is a partner on the USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in East Central Uganda Activity (USAID/Uganda RHITES EC). The purpose of this Activity is implementation of a comprehensive integrated investment in regional health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The five-year Activity collaborates with 11 districts in East-Central Uganda.

Job summary

The Project Assistant will mainly support implementation of all social and behavior change communication activities at cluster level. He/she will also work closely with SBCC Program Officers at the cluster level to ensure SBCC activities are implemented according to plan. The Project Assistant will report to the Technical Adviser Social and Behavior Change Communication USAID/RHITES-EC.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support effective community mobilization through coordinating with districts health teams, community groups and VHTs.
  • Supervise translation, pretest and distribution of IEC materials
  • Organize radio talk show schedules and follow up with guest speakers
  • Track number of radio talk shows and spot messages aired by various radio stations
  • Participate in district activity planning meetings
  • Monitor and track the progress of mobilization in communities
  • Documentation of good practices
  • Prepare and submit quarterly, annual reports and other reports as required



Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Communication, Health, Social Sciences, Population or related field. Must have at least 1 years’ experience in implementing Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) interventions. Demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and community based organizations as well as government departments. Must have experience working at the community level to implement BCC interventions. Have excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player. Demonstrate good interpersonal communication. Good presentation and writing skills. Computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

(Note: Ability to speak and understand Lusoga or Luganda local languages will be an added advantage.).
